Another look at the Festival

Here is another look at the festival this is what we call the すり違い(surichigai). It's where the two floats try to port around each other.  This was between our float 中新町(NakashinCho) and 山町さん(Yamamachi).  This time we got stuck in the middle, both floats were caught up and we couldn't move so most of the guys around pushed the float way up high so that we could try to release it but in the end we had just had to keep going and move out of the way.  It took longer than usual but in the end it was another historic Surichigai.

知立祭り間祭りの五町公演平成２３年

知立祭り間祭り五町公演。This is where all five floats of Chiryu City are on the same street and for two minutes we lift the float, called 山車(dashi) in Japanese, and spin it around. Here is the video of this years 五町公演 I am in 中新町 梶棒 I am the third from the front on the right rod (further rod from the screen). Hope you enjoy it when I get more videos uploaded I show them to you all.

知立祭り（間い祭り）Chiryu Festival (Aimatsuri)

I will be at the Chiryu Festival this year on 2 and 3 May.

I will be a 梶棒one of the guys lifting up the float while moving around  the city.

If you are near or in Chiryu Japan then please come and visit it will be a fun time.
